An Employer-specific Work Permit allows you to work in Canada as per conditions on your permit like:

Open Work Permit

Open Work Permit is not job-specific and applicants can work for an eligible employer in Canada. An Open Work Permit not required an offer of employment or a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from the applicant.

Open Work Permit may be applied by:

  • The spouses or common-law partners of foreign students engaged in the full-time study

  • Spouses or common-law partners of temporary foreign workers in a level O, A or B occupation. According to the National Occupation Classification (NOC)

  • International students who graduated from Canadian post-secondary institutions.

  • Candidate who has applied for permanent residence.

  • World Youth Program Permit

  • Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program Spouse Permit

  • Regular Open Work Permit

  • Bridging Open Work Permit

  • Temporary Work Permit for spouses and partners

  • Post-graduation Work Permit

  • Temporary Resident Permit

How to Apply

  • Step 1 – As a first step for obtaining work, the permit is to apply for labour market impact assessment.

  • Step 2- Applicant can apply for a Canadian work permit after issued a positive LMIA.

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Good health and have a medical exam if needed,

  • No work plan with employer listed with an ineligible status

  • Proof that you have sufficient fund to take care of yourself and your family

  • No record of criminal activity
