Alberta Immigration
Alberta is one of the fastest-growing provinces of Canada and houses Canada’s two major urban centres, Edmonton and Calgary. Alberta is located in the Western region of Canada and is well known for its physiographic diversity like it has towering rocky mountains, glacial lakes, huge extend of boreal forest and extensive fertile Prairies. As far as the natural resources of the province are concerned, huge reserves of Coal, Natural Gas, Oil, mineral and Alberta oil sand strengthen Alberta’s position as an energy-rich province.
Alberta Immigration Nominee program (AINP)
Alberta’s Provincial Nominee program is specifically designed to invite and grant an Alberta nomination certificate to the potential immigrants with a unique blend of skills and specific work experience that is mainly required by the province to fill labour shortages in Alberta.
The AINP consists of the following immigration streams:
- Alberta Opportunity Stream
- Alberta Express Entry Stream
- Alberta self-Employed Farmer stream
This program is carried out by the Alberta government in collaboration with immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the federal immigration department. Interested candidate must follow a two stage process: the candidate has to apply for nomination to the provincial government, and if candidate gets nominated then he or she has to apply for the permanent residence to the federal government.
Alberta Opportunity Stream
Under this stream, individual who meets the stream’s minimum eligibility requirements and is working on an eligible occupation in Alberta are allowed to apply for an AIPN provincial nomination.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
This stream allows the Government of Alberta to nominate eligible candidates from Canada’s Express Entry Stream whereas a successful nomination under this stream gives 600 additional Comprehensive ranking system points.
Self Employed Farmer Stream
This stream allows individuals who have farming experience and personal funds to purchase and develop a land in Alberta to apply for permanent residence. Successful applicants are farm owners and operators who plan to live in Alberta in order to purchase and manage their farming land.
